Assess Your Physique
Posing is visual art expressed through the physique. No two physiques are the same, and we all have our own strengths and weaknesses. This week we will identify the areas of your physique that we want to draw attention to, and those that we want to disguise - pose to highlight your physique and keep all eyes on you.

Set Your Legs (Front)
Posing starts from the ground up. This week we learn how to position our feet, angle our hips, and activate our quads so that we can create a strong foundation for all front posing. By manipulating our physique we can create the desired X-shape in our lower body - small waist flowing into sweeping legs.

Set Your Legs (Side)
Posing starts from the ground up. This week we learn how to manipulate our feet/knees/hips to improve the balance of our quads/hamstrings and to maximise hamstring drop for certain poses. This will create a strong foundation for all side posing.

Set Your Legs (Back)
Posing starts from the ground up. This week we learn how to position our feet, engage our glutes/hips, and activate our hamstrings so that we can create a strong foundation for all back posing. By contracting our hamstrings and glutes correctly we can highlight our conditioning/striations and display our quad sweep from behind.

Midsection Control
The midsection is the centre of the physique and the first place the eye is drawn to. Keeping a tight, controlled midsection is one of the most important aspects of good posing and is always something judges look for on stage. This week we learn how to control our breathing and correctly engage and maintain our core. It requires consistent practice to make this skill second nature, and to develop posing endurance.

Flaring Your Lats
Your lats form the desired V-shape for your upper body in combination with a tight midsection. This week we learn to flare them as wide as possible without sacrificing mobility, awkward arm positioning, or losing the cap to our shoulders. Remember: a relaxed muscle is a larger muscle. We will be manipulating our shoulders and arms in order to open up our lats, and we want to avoid squeezing our lats.

Squeezing Your Chest
For most, the chest contributes the most to upper body size from the front. It's important to know how to contract this part of the physique fully to display striations and conditioning. This week we learn cues for our shoulder and arm positioning to help fully contract the chest.

Turn On Your Lower Back
One of the markers of shredded conditioning and a great way to draw attention to your physique in back poses is to display the "Christmas Tree". This is also an important area to pay attention to when posing your back as it completes the physique. This week we learn how to use a combination of breath/hip/core control, and cues for contracting the spinal erectors in order to display a sharp lower back.

Locked Arms
A focal point for a classic physique, arms should be locked + loaded in every pose. This week we learn how to manipulate hand + arm position to fully engage all parts of the arms, and to ensure you don't pose them shakily with awkward fists.

Symmetry Poses (Quarter Turns)
The Symmetry round is the first impression you make on the judges. Shape is the primary judging criteria along with conditioning. It's important (as with your entire time on stage) to keep your midsection tight and display confidence and preparedness - no shaking, no heavy breathing, no evidence of discomfort. This week we learn how to pose to maximise shape and highlight detail + conditioning.
